Sheikh Salim Yusufali was born and raised in the US. He pursued his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science at Stanford University in Palo Alto, at which time he was an active member of the SABA community. After graduating in 1999, Sheikh Salim worked at a Silicon Valley software company first as a software developer, and then as an engineering manager. Disenchantment with the typical career path and Silicon Valley lifestyle, a desire to learn about Allah, the Qur’an, and the Ahlul Bayt (a), and a ziyarat trip to Iran led him to change his course in life. At the end of 2003, he left his job and moved to the holy city of Qum to pursue his Islamic studies in the Hawza. He currently resides in Qum, specializing in Quranic tafsir, with his wife and three children during the school year, and travels back home during the summers.
